A couple of years ago I did a series of poems
about feminism
and I thought I was finished with all that
but apparently not –
since this one popped up last week.
And then I went to MOCA yesterday (Museum of Contemporary Art)
… which got me writing about it all over again.
But the thing is.
I kind of wish someone had already said this
so then I wouldn’t have to.
And maybe they have and I just can’t find them.
I even went into the MOCA gift shop and said
“please can you show me all the artists who comment on feminism
but not in the normal way, more like, that maybe it’s not necessary
anymore, and doing more harm now since things have changed.”
But the guy said “no there were none, except one guy
who’s really turned the clock back,”
(and then he showed me his work which I totally didn’t get
and didn’t see any lady feminist stuff in there anyway).
I think we need to have a conversation
about all this
at least
don’t you reckon?
