Want to know how to solve a problem and open yourself up to some brilliant solution, that’s perfect for you—maybe something no one has ever thought of?
I used to study science.
A lot of science. (Nutritional Science).
Anyone who’s been through the stuffy old education system is trained in the science brain model. If you asked me a question back then, I’d have needed a double-blind placebo-controlled trial to answer it.
Science brain trains you to repeat stuff and copy ideas. I know experiments to come up with somewhat new ideas, but let’s face it, most of them are just along the same old lines as the existing ones.
This is why when most people hit a challenge they look to what other people do.
Nothing wrong with this, it’s a good place to start, but it’s not the only option.
To come up with truly great ideas:
1. You need to unlearn your ‘science brain’ habits, and then…
2. Make space for your ‘creative brain.’ Let it have fun!
Warning: This idea is simple but supremely powerful, but easy to forget.
You are the proud owner of the most AWESOME inbuilt guidance system. And one of the best and quickest ways to access its wisdom is to make space for it. Just a little bit is all you need sometimes.
Space?
Yeah.
Space, like doing nothing.
Like the other day when I sat down with my whiteboard and a cup of tea and wrote something like, “Alrighty, then, how shall we handle this?”
And then I sat back and didn’t think much except, wow, I wonder what will show up.
Ten minutes later, I was the proud owner of a brilliant out-of-the-box solution perfect for me.
Here’s to having smoking good ideas.
Try it!
