I have noticed that too. (And contributed myself, more times than I care to admit!) I think as writers, we crave to write the way “normal” people crave taking a nap, having a glass of wine, going for long runs, etc – things that help you relax, work out the kinks. When we get the chance to sit down and do it, if the all-elusive Inspiration doesn’t meet us there, than our most profound emotion in that moment is that very frustration… and out it comes ๐
If I had a nickel for every poem I have seen about the taunting of the flashing black line on a white screen…
And yeah, I’ve written a ton of them myself – it’s like I sit down to write and until I’ve got the ‘poem about poetry’ out of the way, the other stuff sits backed up behind it.
Most I delete, this one made it through.
Thanks for commenting on my blog – have a lovely writery day!

PS: I still have no idea how to do actual smiley faces like you’ve done – very nice, by the way… which may just be the topic of my next poem!

A great assessment of how us writery people work!

Oh look – now I see how the smiley faces happen – it’s automatic when you do a colon and a bracket … ๐
